KARACHI: The Sindh government has decided to set up a special police force to deal with riots and protests in Karachi.
The special force will comprise of 100 personnel. According to a decision taken by the Sindh Apex Committee, the new force will be trained by the Pakistan army. The move comes a week after dozens of angry MQM supporters stormed the offices of TV channels after a provocative speech by the party’s London-based chief.
At least one person was killed and a dozen people were wounded in the riots. In another decision, it was decided to change number plates of vehicles across Sindh and a security chip will be attached with the number plates.
