MARDAN: Police indicted 17 people for alleged involvement in a shooting incident between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Awami National Party (ANP) workers that left four persons dead and seven others injured, police sources said on Saturday. They said police registered cases to pin the real culprits and investigate as to who initiated the fight and were involved in the shooting. Meanwhile, funeral prayers of the deceased activists were offered and they were buried in their respective villages. Police on the complaints of ANP activist Qadir Khan, and PTI worker Assadullah lodged cases against 17 people from both sides. Those nominated in the First Information Report registered by the ANP included PTI tehsil councillor, Mohmand Khan and his sons Lakhkar Khan, Jabir Khan , Mihrab, brother Qadir Naseer and other party activists Asad, Bilal, Sajid, Ishaq, Zawar and Nadir. From the ANP side, district council member Sardar Khan and party workers Bahadur, Islam, Ikram, Wisal and Usman were charged with the firing incident. Police registered cases against the accused nominated by the complainants from both sides under section 302, 324, 148 and 149 of the law. PTI’s tehsil councillor Mohmand Khan and ANP workers Ikram, Shahjehan and Qasim had died on Friday evening during an armed clash between the rival parties activists over a flag hoisting issue. Seven others including Islam, Wasal, a woman identified as Zahida, Sadam Hussain, Bilal, Hadier and Shahjehan had sustained serious injuries during the firing incident.
