ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Tuesday lauded Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s decision to postpone the ‘Islamabad lockdown’.
Nisar – while addressing a press conference – said that every political party is allowed to hold a rally in Islamabad.
“There are no winners or losers today,” he said, “I appreciate and welcome what Imran Khan’s decision.”
“Pakistan’s victory is in peace, democracy, rule of law and reliance on our institutions,” the interior minister said.
However, Nisar was of the view that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were unfairly targeted and apologised for the inconvenience caused by the usage of tear gas and baton-charge.
The minister acknowledged KP’s people’s hospitality and said that ‘we did not stop you when you protested in the F-8 park’.
Nisar said that the PTI supporters adopted an incorrect policy of locking down the federal capital and asked, “Would you open your doors to a ‘Lashkar’ trying to lockdown Peshawar?”
