ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued notice to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan over a disqualification reference against him and has linked the case to funds of PTI.
The petition seeking disqualification of Imran Khan came up for hearing before ECP on Tuesday. The counsel for the petitioner said that Imran Khan has filed incorrect certificate with regard to party funds, therefore, he does not fulfill article 62 and 63 of the Constitution. Imran Khan collected funds through prohibited sources, the counsel said.
He told the ECP that PTI collected funds worth of $2992000 from US from 2001 to 2013 through illegal sources.
The ECP issued notice to PTI chairman after hearing the arguments from the counsel of petitioner and adjourned the hearing of the case till December 1.
