LARKANA: About 688 policemen have been deployed at 63 police check posts established along Sindh-Balochistan border after the Shah Noorani terror attack and CCTV cameras have also been installed at all the shrines of Larkana division. This was revealed by Abdullah Shaikh, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP), Larkana Range, on Friday.
DIGP said in a press briefing that police have been kept on high alert in the entire range after the similarity surfaced in the nature of attacks between Shikarpur and Shah Noorani. He said operation will also be intensified against the banned outfits’ network and their activists in the areas of Sultan Kot, Garhi Yasin and Jacobabad. Abdullah Shaikh He said that all five SSPs of Larkana division have been directed to ensure safety and provision of foolproof security at these shrines adding that they have further been directed to take away bag/s or other suspicious things from the visitors and parking should also be made away from the shrines.
The DIGP said that ensuring security has become a challenge for them after the Shah Noorani attack adding that famous Mazars have also been provided with more police force and patrolling has also been intensified for the mausoleums that are located in far flung and remote areas. He said that main accused in Shikarpur and Jacobabad incidents is Hafeezullah Brohi, who has now fled to Afghanistan via Balochistan, where he is working with Tahreek-e-Taliban.
Further, he said that Hafeezullah Brohi and his network, which was working in Larkana division, basically involved in terrorist acts, has been broken. He said police suspect that Brohi is sending people after training them. These terrorists make their stay in Balochistan’s Khuzdar and Wudh areas, where their facilitators are available. These terrorists, he added, reach Shahdadkot via Jafferabad, Jacobabad, Osta Muhammad and Shikarpur.
He also said that recently police and Rangers have arrested an activist of banned outfit, Abdul Rahman from Shahdadkot and recovered hate literature from his possession. Police have and obtained important information from him and have registered a case against him. DIGP Abdullah Shaikh further said after Abdul Rahman’s arrest they fear that terrorist acts may occur in Kambar-Shahdadkot, therefore, they have started focusing on these areas, where operation will be carried out. He assured that extra ordinary security arrangements will be made this time in Shikarpur, Jacobabad and Kambar-Shahdadkot on Chehlum.
