ISLAMABAD – International nurses Day would be celebrated around the world on May 12 including Pakistan, to commemorate the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s who is widely considered the founder of modern nursing.
The International Council of Nurses celebrates this important day every year with the production and distribution of the International Nurses’ Day (IND) Kit. The IND Kit 2016 includes educational and public information materials, for use by nurses everywhere. The International Nurses Day is “A Force for Change: Improving health systems’ resilience”.
The content of this year’s kit, including the poster image are posted here as downloadable documents for use by individual nurses, associations, health ministries and health institutions.
Such activities are carried out by the nurses and others throughout the year despite the fact that IND is celebrated on 12th May every year.
Nurses are encouraged everywhere to make extensive use of the Nurses: A Force for Change: Improving health systems’ resilience kit throughout the year, through both individual and group activities.
The day, dedicated to nurses, is celebrated because of their endless and countless contributions that they have made towards the society. People are appreciated to take this day as an opportunity to thank a nurse you know who has taken care of you sometime previously or recently. It’s not necessary to get her something grand or expensive but a little effort that you make will make her day or maybe the year.
